The cask

One barrel. One finish.

Fourteen years of maturation, then a finish in a Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select cask. It’s an unusual choice for an English single malt, and the reason there is a Batch No. 1 at all.

As a single barrel release, the batch is exactly what that barrel gave: 251 bottles, at 43%, non-chill filtered, natural colour.

The tasting

Caramel, vanilla, golden syrup, honeyed oak, raisin, smoke.

Nose

Warm caramel and creamy vanilla, reminiscent of freshly baked toffee pudding.

Palate

Smooth, rich and full-bodied, developing layers of golden syrup, honeyed oak and ripe raisins. The raisins bring a delicate fruit sweetness. Beneath sits a subtle wisp of smoke, adding warmth and complexity without overwhelming the sweeter side.

Finish

Long, silky and satisfyingly rich.

Sweetness, fruit, oak and understated smoke, in balance.
